Santa Maria July 5

Santa Maria July 5

It's been a long couple weeks, but for now we'll just catch you up with the events from tonights race at Santa Marai:
Santa Maria July 5th. 26 cars in the pits -- Jake takes to the track -- sitting in the pit area where Julie, USAC Official, writes times on the large board, you sure can't hear a thing the announcer says. You could hear the crowd cheer...but waiting & waiting for the time to be posted. Julie looks at me and just grins - quick time a 14.999!! Still a few more fast cars to go...and Jake holds on for his 2nd quick time of 2014!!!
The dreaded pay back of quick time, starting at the back of Heat #1. Gotta say...that was one heat race that sure wasn't fun to watch. As a matter of fact, it was down right ugly. You would of thought the Moosemobile was racing in Australia, as the 92 continually wanted to go right....it was that way for so many of the drivers, all set up toooo tight. Wholesale changes needless to say and on to the B.... by missing the transfer from the Heat, Jake started front row. Taking 10 cars...so a transfer out of the B would start the 92 7th instead of 6th, as the invert for the Main Event is 6. Jake walked away with
the B.... checked out, just plain gone.
Inside row row 4 -- and the changes that had been made for the semi and a few more tweaks here and there sure paid of, as Jake was quick and smooth. Even passing the top running guy in the series and able to even pull away. Setting site on what would of been 4th, got it in a little to hot and spun the car in turns 3 & 4. Unfortuately, as several cars were able to get by the parked Moosemobile, Logan WIlliams, got caught up in it and was out for the rest of the event. Refired, and starting at the back, Jake was passing one here, one there, when there was a cluster of cars spinning coming out of 4 and he slammed on the brakes to come to a stop and miss the 3 cars scattered across the track, that was with 5 to go. Back to the back again.... honestly, don't know where we finished, but Jake and the Moosemobile are in one piece, rolled into the trailer and on our way home.
So, even tho' the official finish won't relay the great run it was for Jake & the Moosemobile, it was a gooooddd night! Jake ket it be known, that the Moose is definitely on the loose!!
Thanks again to the Moose Crew, how works their butts off-- and to the wonderful people who support us. MIssing Phil & Eileen King and George Black tonight, was sure strange knowing they weren't there!!!
Should be at Ventura Raceway July 19th in the 360, if all goes according to plan!!!
