Wow! You would of thought that there was a major party happening in the Moose Pits last Saturday night!!! It was exciting to see the large turn out of old & new friends gather to show their support for Jake. To the Moose Crew, Dave, Jim, JImmy, Chris, Don & Tom (missing in action was David) - thanks so much for all of your hard work! Scrapping mud off the Moosemobile is a dirty job, but it's a necessity - and hard at it was George ( a mega supporter of Jake ) , Tammy, & Dustin. Joining us also, was Dan, a good friend and owner of Freeway Auto & Brad, from Saddleback Valley Gun Center, as we welcome Brad to The Moose Herd..
This accumulation of awesome people were on hand to cheer on Jake in the evenings events. 30 cars - for Jake to test his skills againest in qualifying . And he did just that - crossing the timing light with a time of 16.912, which held up for 4th quick of the night!!! The faster you are, the further back you start in the heat race -- so, starting 6th in the 4th heat, he had a hustle that 92 Moosemobile. By lap 2 up to 3rd, and lap 3 he was running 2nd behind Cory Krusman, and a direct transfer to The Main Event.
As the fans rise to their feet to salute the USAC/CRA 410 field of 22… Jake settles into his 2nd row starting position. Green flag drops and it's game time for 30 laps. Back up to 5th, up to 4th, back to 7th, it was a back & forth night. SItting in 5th on a restart, the car in front of him, must not of realized the green was coiming out, as he laid back and a bunching of the field started. A car bobbled coming off of turn 2, somehow Jake avoided that mishap, and he was 4th, Without seeing a video of the race, can't really say what happened but with the laps closing down Jake was 8th…. The finish sure did not reflect the stellar run that Jake had. But another top 10 finish!!
Joining the Moose Herd is a very close friend and now sponsor of a 360 engine. With the addition of this engine, Jake & Moose Rcing will be expanding their race season to include several USAC West Coast 360 events. We will get the revised schedule posted soon.
