Moose Racing Travels North/Ocean Speedway

Finally have some time to turn back the clock and do some updating from a couple weeks ago - let's hope we can remember the happenings at Ocean Speedway and Petaluma:
With Moose Racing still waiting for a new trailer that was ordered last December, and has had major issues with the builder, Team Moose was so appreciative to Ray & Kevin from Trackside Racing when they made arrangements for us to use their trailer so 2 cars could be hauled for this journey. If you have a spare, you won't need it correct?
Jim, Jimmy, Tom & Laurie wanting to get a head start on the morning LA traffic headed out about 8 pm on Thursday night - over the Grapevine and settling in for the night at a truck stop in Lebec. Rise and shine early, have the rig serviced for it's oil change and back on the road headed to Watsonville. Speculation on how many cars would be on hand had promoters on the nervous side, as so many teams in the past haven't done much traveling, and Wastonville is a pretty long haul for a lot. It was pleasing to see 23 cars in the pits...as several No Cal cars joining in the action. The luck of the pill draw was with us -- as Jake timed in 3rd quick!! Wow! Heat race 3 - and running 2nd to Damion Gardner, the Moosemobile powered by ever faithful Pee Wee came slowly to a stop. Pushing the car back to the pits, it's never a good sign when you see a trail of oil. Maybe just an oil line or something? Heck no, Pee Wee had blown up wouldn’t know about the damage until we get her pulled and back to RC the engine doc. Remember that spare car that wouldn't be needed? Whelp, the crew flew into action and readied it to start the Main. Now, if it had been possible to just switch engines Jake would of gotten his starting position back, but a car swap, back in the back. Making steady forward progress Jake was running about 8th -- just a few laps to go and a slower lap car changed his line and Jake rode up on this wheel, stopping and then restarting back at the back for the run of the last few laps. Ended up 12th. Sure not the night Team Moose was hoping for.
Loading Trackside's trailer is a tad bit of a challenge and takes forever, but all tightened down and ready to hit the road towards Petaluma. Several of Team Moose were missing this weekend - that dreaded word called "work". We missed Dave, Phil & Eileen Don, Tammy & Dustin -- the rest of the Moose Crew .. Jim, Jimmy, Chris, Jake & Tom sure worked their butts off. Making the long trip from Nevada was George Blacker of Ram-Bull Racing, sending out good vibes and support for Jake & team Moose!
Tom, is the only one that drives the rig and you'd think that he'd be exhausted and pull over for some z's. Heck no.. power on - arriving at the track in Petaluma about 2:30 am.
Check back soon for the Petaluma update -- it's a shocker!!
