What a difference a hundred and some miles can make. Leaving Chico and the 100 degree weather to the high in Watsonville of 68!! Sure glad we had The Moose Is Loose Hoodies for sale, cuz they sure were popular!!!
George from Ram Bull Racing surprised all when he canceled his plans to stay in Chico for the Outlaw Show and headed to Watsonville. Asides from him coming to this race, he had another surprise of the team, as he generously covered the guys pit passes!!!! WOW - thanks so much George for your friendship and support.
Mix a few 360's with the regular USAC/CRA 410's and there was a decent car count. 2nd out of 26 cars --- WOW!!!
Heat race # 2: With that great qualifying run, starting heat in 6th, got a little work to do....and Jake did just that as he took the checkers first ..
All eyes were on the track conditions as several other series ran their main event, dwarfs, mods & super stocks. The track continually keep coming back, moist and tacky. Based on that, the 92 Moosemobile was setup for the 30 lap Main. Well, the track must not of liked that the crew thought they "had figured it out" and after about 5 laps, went dry slick, thus throwing the Moose set up right out with window and saw Jake fading back in the field. At one point along the back straightway he did a humungous wheelie ( maybe a photographer caught it? ) and Jake wrestled with the car the remainder of the Feature. A 12 th place finish --
On to the last race of California Sprint Week -
Loaded up and heading down the road to Santa Maria Mr. Moose ran out of energy about 1 1/2 into the drive and that "have bed will travel" pulled over - and it's night night time.
