It's been a long week and half, but a blast at the same time!! For Tom and the entire Moose Crew, it's been a lot of work.... and you wouldn't believe this, the crew actually thanked The Moose's for letting them be a part of this amazing trip!! Are they NUTS??!!!
A better then expected field of cars rolled into Santa Maria Speedway, 26 cars, which made the USAC Promoter,Chris a very happy man. From the looks in the stands, his massive amount of advertising on tv, radio and roadside car displays had to have paid off.
The track was a tricky one,,,, dry and rough even as hot laps rolled out, and it didn't get any better for qualifying. Damion Gardner again, claimed quick time, with Roa, who was the 1st car out, in 2nd. Jake went out in the last 3/4 of the field and was 9th quick. Heat race, well, have to admit.. was rough, coming in 5th...no direct transfer to the Main. It was time for the Semi Main. ONly 2 cars woudln't make the transfer, but it was a true test to see if the Moose crew could dial in the car for the tricky track that was before them. Have to admit, the finish wasn't what Jake and all the team was looking for, came home in a top 10 spot, in 9th. For the conditions and the track changing face part way into the main, it was great that Jake and the car came home in 1 piece!!!
