Busy Weekend For Stockon
Time to get things rollin' for Chase's busy weekend .....All loaded and ready to hit the road to Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville. For anyone out here in the midwest everyone knows that the past week or so the area has been saturated by Mother Nature. Grassy areas are a soggy mess and the Moose Rig must of found the mushist area of em all. Oh, this isn't good as the track equipment couldn't pull " the Moose" outta the mess, Tommy Estes and the track crew called in the big boys to drag the rig and trailer to dryer ground. Feeling kinda foolish until we realized that plenty of other haulers had gotten stuck too.
With that fiasco over with Steve & Tom unloaded and all attention was diverted to getting the 92 ready for hot lap and to get qualified. Puling a late pill is usually not the happiest, but Chase timed in in 10th out of 24 cars. Heat race 2 ,lined u 4th and came across the line in 2nd.
The format for the Main is something that I personally have a hard time wrapped my head around ( and maybe someday it will really sink in ) The top 6 in qualifying, then the 4 heat race winners, then from there it's by your qualifying time the only snafoo to that if you ran the Semi Main and did finish in a transfer spot, you get your qualifying time back !!! Wacky, I know!!! SO,
that set us back a bit in the lineup!! took the green in 13th and drove 'er up there to finish 9th.
NO rest for the wicked, as Tom decided it's easier to drive at night, we headed over to Lawrenceberg for Saturday nights Justin Owen's Memorial Race. I"ll never forget the 1st time I saw that track... really, that's a racetrack?? It's configuration to me, looks like a Pringles Potato Chip!! But it sure does offer amazing racing.
The friends of Justin Owen put together extra bonuses for several different categories thru out the evening. Carson Garrett picked up $604 as the first non-transfer from the semi-feature. Chase Stockon recorded the second fastest time in hot laps while Logan Seavey was the second quickest in qualifying, with both drivers earning a $404 reward. Briggs Danner pocketed an extra $264 as the fourth place feature finisher. An extra $26 apiece went to the fourth place finishers from each heat race: Shawn Westerfeld, Jadon Rogers, Austin Nigh and Jake Swanson. A huge shoutout to them for the extra Bucks!!
Qualifying 8 th out of 28 cars would give the Moose Team great starting position for all events. Started 5th and ran 'er up to take Heat 2 Win
It's Showtime!! On the pole for the 30 laps Justin Owen Memorial!! As Justin Grant was sitting next to Chase on the outside of row 1, luck was on Chase's side when the initial green was called back for a spinning car. This time it was all Chase as he launched off and turn 4 and took the realy lead. 8 laps later Grant did make his pass, but Chase was never far behind and showed his nose several times, but Justin had the high side dialed in Winning the event. Chase took the checkered in 2nd with Robert Ballou in 3rd..
HELL YA!!!!
Next UP : Chase and the Moose 92 will be taking on El Dora Speedway May 2nd & 3rd
