Glen Howard Memorial - Perris Auto Speedway
After having such a successful California Sprint Week Jake and The Moose Herd were pumped for their return to Perris Auto Speedway!
Out of the box the box The Moosemobile looked "fast" even just sitting in the pits. Pulling an early # for qualifying, of coarse on everyone's minds was, will the track get faster? Donnie & Coach's well prepared clay did gain some speed for the other qualifiers, but Jake held strong with a 3rd quick.
Ya all know that fast qualify times, means a back of the Heat start, and having to navigate thru the cars that qualified a tad slower -- wow, this heat was a barn burner! Jake piloted the Moosemobile to 3rd quickly. The race for the win was pretty much anyone of 3 drivers game. Up to 2nd, all over 1st with 3rd riding right on the rear bumper. Jake brings it home in 2nd. Bezio, Jake, Malcom and Mitchell!!
Main event: Stating outside row 2 - initial green flag is dropped and Jake gets a great jump - of coarse, a spinning car in turn 1 negates the start and the field reassembles for a full restart. This time, the inside row got a great run and saw the 92 drop back a few positions. Running high against the wall , waiting patiently for the high groove to " come in". But the inside line was making major progress and The Moosemobile had dropped and was running in 7th, maneuvering lap traffic, when coming out of 4 Jake and lapper tangled. Restart last and with the 10 remaining laps Jake worked his way back up 9th.
Loading the car in the trailer unscathed is always a good thing, but sure not the night Jake and The Moose Herd was hoping for. Oh, well, there's always the next race!!
The USAC/CRA sprint cars return to Perris Auto Speedway for The Oval Nationals November 12-13-14. Will you be there? We hope so!!!
