Florida's Winter Dirt Games
When your next door neighbors are as involved in dirt track racing as much as you are ( or maybe even more ) you celebrate each others accomplishments and victories. Thus The “ 150 Street Traveling Champagne Bottle” was created, complete with the winning dates of both teams. Yesterday morning the well traveled bottle arrived back at the Moose house and will live here until the Engler Machine & Tool, Stealth Midget gets their next victory!!
( Pop over to www.sprintcars.com to keep up with the action from Chase & Moose Racing 92 )
What an amazing kick off to the ’26 USAC season!!
Cone to Florida where it’s warmer then Princeton, Indiana they said. Whelp, the first couple of nights might have tipped the thermostat a few degrees warmer then the 30’s we left in Indiana, but trust us, with the ocean wind and temps in the 40’s, the first few days at Volusia Speedway were Chily Willy!!
Logan Seavy took the Win, but Chase set the track at Volusia on fire as he charged from 17th starting spot to claim the Rod End Supply Hard Charger of the night on opening night, slicing and dicing from 17th to 8th.
Night 2 after qualifying 9th, running 2nd on his head and starting 10th in the Main, the 92 finished the events at Volusia in 8th, while Jae Swanson was the man to beat as he claimed his first Victory of ’26.
Crusing about an hour down the road was Ocala Speedway where the teams memories of their first trip there last year was anything but pleasant.
On 2 separate occasions, in ’25, Chase had the Moose leading the competition when metal debris that was embedded in the track took out right rear tires, causing massive damage to the rear ends. Fingers were crossed that the next 4 nights there would result with much happier finishes - and, that it did!!
Giving it his all, starting 2nd on a pretty much no passing track, Chase put the pressure on leader Trey Osborne for 30 laps. AT 1 point Chase and Trey got together on the front straightaway, and it as Pucker time for sure, as honestly not quite sure how the 2 did’t turn ‘em over. But the 2 made it through and Chase’s finish resulted in standing on the podium in 2nd, as Trey “ Too Tall” Won his 1st USAC National event. a crowd pleasing Win for this man who’s gotta be the tallest to ever strap into a non wing sprint car.
Night 2: A qualifying effort of 9th, a 5th in the heat would line Chase up in the 9th for the 30 lap feature. Eyes set forward … and a top 5 finish.
Night 3 was a hard fought battle with Kyle Cummins and Kevin Thomas chomping at his tail tank, for what, 35 laps???!!! … But Chase wasn’t to be denied, as he lead all 35 laps, taking the WIN and the K & N Filters Clear Air Award. The evening was even more special for the team, as “ The Neighbors’,Tim, Tammy, Tally, Brian & Sawyer, the Engler Family was present to share in the celebration- honestly between Tom, Chase & The Englers, not quite sure who was the happiest.
Winter Dirt Games Finale Saturday night saw the top 5 in points locked into the feature for $ 10,000. Positions were drawn for the starting line up of “A Dash”, the finish of those 6 laps would line there field up for the 40 laps. Chase, lined up th and was running there, until in the first few laps, a mishap in turn3/4 caused the 92 to loose several positions, dropping to 8th. When the checkered flew, it was Justin Grant for the Win, Chase in 8th.
There is not enough thanks that can be given to, Crew Chief Steve Williby, who had the 92 dialed in all week.
AS the guys were thrashing away in the pits, Laurie was out in the merch area pedaling Chase's newest T-Shirts and Stuff. reaching all to all the purchased merch, it was fun seeing so many Chase shirts scattered in the grandstands. Don't forget you can order " Celebrating Chase's Terre Haute Win and Who Let The Moose Out Again shirts at the teams website www.sprintcars.com
